So is Bogut legitimately made of glass or are we just preserving him in Cosmoline until the TDL?

My biggest fear is we buy him out because nobody wants to give us anything for him. It's a bigger fear than keeping him. At least keeping him leads to more losses when we play him next to Dirk.

Yeah, we buy him out and some contender signs him for the league minimum and he plays great for them. That would really piss me off.

Wouldnt surprise me one bit if teams are waiting to see if we will buy him out.

And Bogut has basically screwed us by not giving a sh**. Be different if he didn't care now, but he was this way from the get-go.

Still, I never thought we'd get much value for him anyway. Mavs don't owe him anything, so I'd just keep him if you can't get anything in return. No way you just let him walk to a contender.

Did I miss out on something? Why are people so hostile about Bogut? Mavs are not even close to playoffs, they are not competing, Bogut did not cost anything to get. Mavs have not given up anything for him and getting anything for him makes this only better, even the 60th pick in the draft.

Seriously, people are so critical about his play and effort like they want to see Bogut giving his all and helping Mavs win... At one post people complain that Mavs happened to win a game, then in the next post start complaining how one player is not helping Mavs win more games. Bogut playing his best would help Mavs win more games.

Whose complaining he isn't helping us win more games? All I see is complaints about how he can't even look like a rotational basketball player worth even a 2nd rounder at this point.

Because him playing would more than likely help Mavs who lack any size and rim protection.

If we go by examples how player who is injured and sitting out can not look even like a rotational player, then Dirk looked earlier in the season like he belonged to the D-League, you know, when his production was zero and all he did was sitting on the bench in a suit.

I agree that Bogut's production seriously dipped since his big announcement. Coincidentally people here became loud about his production also during the same time. I guess other team GMs are not able to connect the dots that Bogut wants out and therefore is not putting in the effort. This will affect his trade value but you can not go lower than 2nd round draft pick.

In terms of buying him out. Where are those talks coming from? Why on earth would Mavs need to buy him out? Do they have decent player needing minutes at center?

And when it comes to Bogut and injuries... Well, I think RC was not notified that you can not play Bogut over 20 minutes a game and keep him healthy.

I have no clue if they would buy him out. I was just expressing my nightmare scenario of him not helping us lose by playing, and not helping us by getting us an asset in a trade.

Does it really matter if he gets Mavs an asset or not? Mavs got him for free. Does not really matter. I would be pissed if he was bought out before March but I do not mind him warming the bench. I truely believe that healthy Bogut can only average 20 min a game. I also think he is helping Mavs to lose games by sitting, rather than playing.

Lets face it, if Bogut would start playing balls out, increasing his worth to late 1st round pick, then Mavs would end up winning more games than not AND Cuban would not trade him for that 1st.

It just seems like he is getting here the Rondo treatment, only that with Rondo Mavs actually gave something away.

Personally I think it does matter if we get nothing for him. It doesn't matter to me that we got him for free. He was still seen as an asset, and at one time considered to be worth a possible 1st round pick, whether that's true or not we will probably never know. And him walking in the off season for nothing would be a missed opportunity. So I guess we disagree on the idea that he could contribute to wins if he plays. Currently the only thing appealing about him is that he is an expiring contract to me, because I've seen nothing from him that would translate to wins.

As far as the Rondo treatment, all I will say is that while it's frustrating the Mavs are winning games, nobody is upset with the players for giving their all to win games. I think it's the FO ppl are frustrated with. And Bogut, like Rondo, looks and plays like he doesn't give a shit. He recently had a 20 minute game vs the shitty Suns and couldn't grab a single rebound. He did manage to get 5 fouls in that game though. I'm not even sure how that happens unless you flat out have quit. I think you could have put a jersey on, closed your eyes, held your arms up and had a rebound fall out of the sky into your hands for 1 rebound in 20 minutes. Even if you had the vertical hops of roadkill you would have grabbed 1 rebound in 20 minutes. So if he's getting any kind of Rondo treatment, to me it's because he's not even giving effort to go along with the fact that at one point we thought he could be moved for a protected future first and now I don't think a GM would trade us expired milk for him from a performance and health standpoint.

I just dont see any point of him being on the team anymore. Try to flip him for ANYTHING at this point. He doesnt want to be here, so I dont want him to be here. That simple.

He’s barely played, but have you been entirely underwhelmed by Andrew Bogut? Or were our expectations too high? Sefko: All I know is that the Mavericks are better when he plays than when he doesn’t. But he was a 20-minute man on the championship Golden State teams. If he’s a 25 or 30 minute man for the Mavericks, it’s because they don’t have anybody better to fill in those other minutes. Golden State did. Bogut is not a dominant center. But he is a guy who can hold that position down for you for half a game. That’s why he’s going to be in demand in the next four weeks leading up to the trade deadline.

I believe that Mavs have not played Bogut lately because they are trying to keep him healthy until trade deadline. He is playing at the moment but it can be looked as showcasing that his DNPs had less to do with injury and more as a precautionary measures.

If that's the case they failed because he is out again after reaggravating his hammy tonight.

Dude is either just getting old and can't stay healthy or he just doesnt care that much so any little thing knocks him out for extended periods.

Either way, dude has zero trade value and may not even get a contract offer this summer.

Right now I'd wager he isn't traded, but not because we want him. He won't be traded because he has no value.

Even if he plays just five more games this season the Warriors are going to offer him a contract.

I'm not making any excuses since I've been hard on him, but I think the days of his type of center are coming to an end anyway. Bigger, slower centers are just going to have a hard time making it in Silver's run and gun league.

I think you can make a case that time for old school centers is already over. They need to have decent shooting range to stay relevant. That is why you see Marc Gasol shooting threes this season. That is why Greg Monroe will have hard time during free agency because his game mainly relies on post plays.

At this point no one is going to offer anything for him.

And once the deadline passes, he will begin asking for a release. Mavs release, he's picked up for peanuts on a title contender.

It is more believable that he gets Bosh treatment. Mavs buying out his contract when he will not be eligible for playoffs. I do not see why Mavs would entertain his interests otherwise.

I would literally trade Bogut for a working slurpee machine at the 7-11 by my house. The damn thing is always out of order when I want one.
