This is why the West is a pain to predict. It's so close that one injury can completely change the landscape. All the best for Zion btw., but Pelicans playoff bid just took a huge hit.

At one point, I was leaning more towards 40-41 wins..I think they'll be closer to 43-44

If we win more of the games against the teams we are not supposed to beat than lose to the teams that we are supposed to beat, while breaking even with the rest, we should win about 45 games.

36-41 for me but there’s upside to get to about 45. I hope we do!

Honestly wouldn’t suck to miss the playoffs. We have this years pick and give up next years

Yeah, make the playoffs or get a decent pick -- just as long as everyone stays healthy and keeps improving, this is really a no-lose season for us.

It's good when you look at the standings and see a few teams that were slotted to be ahead or competing with us for the last 2 or 3 spots for the playoffs are struggling HARD out of the gate. Obviously it's early and anything can happen but IMO every game matters in the WC race. The playoffs are probably going to start a few weeks early for the last few spots in the West.

GS 1-3
Kings 0-5
Pels 0-4
OKC 1-4

On the other hand, Suns, Wolves and Spurs do better than advertised. It's going to be a close race no matter what, but early tendencies have raised my confidence as well.

Well, the Wolves are about to lose their best player for a bit. That could be a big problem.

San Antonio Poppovich's were supposed to be ahead of us.

Suns have been pretty impressive/surprising.

The NBA is as soft as the pussies on the court "fighting"

Wont be more than 2-3 games for KAT and Embiid

Im confident that we are going to have a better record than Wolves and Suns and good chances to be better than the Spurs. Healthy we are going to make the playoffs.

Yea. That was not a fight at all...but I won't be surprised to see 5 game suspension.

I'm not that comfortable to say we are a lock for the playoffs.

Not even 5...

Ingram, Rondo and Paul threw punches last year and they got 4, 3 and 2 games

I think Nolan Ryan made it clear how the next generation of athletes were soft when he gave Robin Ventura a beating at the age of 46.

Who called 10-5 through our first 15 games?

Two 40-point blowouts in a row. I know these were bad teams, but that's what good teams do, they blow out bad teams. Are we sure the Mavs aren't actually good? Maybe we won't just be clawing for an eighth seed?

Then again, we did lose twice to the Knicks, so...

Knicks losses were so dumb but that just means we got to win a couple questionable ones....starting Sunday. I think bare minimum we are a 7th seed, and if we play well and make some tweaks and get another good player, we could easily finish in the top half of the west. Ceiling could get higher or lower this week

Not out of the realm of possibility that we have home court in first round. That is the upside of this team.

Basketball is played much differently after the all star break. I think they land in the 45-49 range, shock someone in the first round of the playoffs and lose handily in the 2nd. If that happens, some people will be irate, but most will understand what a monumental leap forward that is for the franchise.

Anything better than that should leave us all feeling extremely blessed.

I expect the team to make the playoffs, but unless there is a trade, I don't think the team makes it out of the first round. Lack of interior D and choking down the stretch will cost them at least 2 games in a 7 game series. They just aren't talented enough to overcome that against the better teams they will see in the playoffs. Here's to hoping that I'm wrong though. I'd love to eat me some tasty crow if that means the mavs advance. :-D

I agree that their late game execution is a problem. Experience should help with that.

As for interior D, they've actually been pretty damn good in that area...when KP plays. Having a healthy KP at playoff time is far from certain, though.
