Default Mavs get LeBron?

Heard a rumor on another forum that the Lakers are looking to trade LeBron. Then later it was indicated that one of the leading contenders was... the Mavs? So I asked, for what? The poster said Doncic.

So, not sure if this has anything to it at all, but thought it might make an interesting discussion, and seems like it might be real, even if only at the 'hey, what do you think about...?' level of interest. So...

Would you trade Doncic for LeBron?

I still think LeBron is probably the best player...but that's slipping with age, and age is very relevant in a deal like this. I don't think I'd do it. LeBron makes sense for a team looking to win a championship next year. I think the Mavs are building to be in the mix a couple years out...and for a long time. They have the young core to build around; I don't see them breaking that up.

Nope.

Let LA and LeBron rot together — they’re perfect for each other.

Trade a 20 year old future star for a 34 year old past his prime? C’mon man.

About this trade proposal:

I wouldnt trade Zion for Lebron. I dont think any team would trade Zion for him.

Lebron has two more years and then a player option. There is always the risk he demands a trade.

Also: Father Time is undefeated. Next season he is 35 and thats the age where Dirk, Pau, Duncan etc fell off the first cliff. You could see it this year. First major injury and after it he announced "the playoff button" and yeah....nothing happened

I had same thoughts as everyone else here, it seems. LeBron may be better, currently, but Mavs aren't in a contend now mode. You shouldn't trade your future for that.

Teams currently in contention...trading for LeBron might make sense, for next year or two. Teams like the Mavs...nah, pass.

Also: Looks like Luka is a pretty nice and not arrogant guy, makes fun of himself etc.

Lebron is a douche.

I wouldnt trade him for 32y old Lebron. Luka is fun.

LA is about to be getting post-Prime LeBron. The fall will come in the next 4 years.

I wouldn't trade Doncic for LeBron period. Doncic is the better player and will have more championship rings. Mark my words.

Better player now? Debatable. Once his (Luka) career is over? Heís going to have to have one hell of a career to be better than LeBron and I hope thatís the case.

Lebron is better than Doncic right now. But the notion of a James/Doncic trade is beyond comical. In addition, There isn't one player I would trade Doncic for.

I wouldnít do that either. Lebron might have 2 years left as a top 5 player in this league. Plus heís a douche. Hard pass.

You're right, I did forget about the douche factor. That would have to be a "no" for me, too.

I don't even know if I would want LeBron James for free now that he's an established veteran. He's above coaches, presidents and even owners, the whole team starts to orbit around his ego until it collapses and the worst part is that, despite all the finals he has played, he has had below average results when compared to several other great players, 3 rings out of 10 finals in 16 seasons is not exactly a colossal feat.
