Barnes has to know...sitting on the bench with a towel around him. It’s hard right now because that’s your team on the floor you want to help win...except it’s actually not.

It’s his first game with the team and he is looking decent. He will get better and figure out his fit and when to shoot with the other guys in the floor.

Hopefully the Barnes' trade news is real. Vucevic with that money? That would be nice, and I wonder if that would be one more enticement for Porzingas to sign a long-term deal with the Mavs.

Get Powell out of the game. Such a baby under the rim every possession.

Okay, I'm happy that Barnes has been traded, but it is NOT cool to mock Wes and Barnes by imitating them at the end of the game trying to close out. :-O

I know he is a career chucker...he is also a bad contract.
I didnt mean he will have Barnes stats or FG%. I meant he will be the biggest chucker and ballstopper on the team aka the new Barnes

No way. This stuff has been a long time coming. The front office finally gets it, and I couldn't be happier about it.

In some non basketball ways...maybe. I still sayblet him get comfortable and I think we will see a much better and efficient THJ. Ofcourse hw will have his bad days like all do...I just think Luka will make him a much better player. He is already shown to be much quicker and athletic than Wes or Barnes.

I think it'll be much easier for Carlisle to move THJ to the 2nd unit if he's not playing well or just not the best mix starting. That was never going to happen with Barnes here.

Yeah, he may be similar to Barnes on the court, but his contract is closer to Wes' -- easier to justify whatever minutes he gets.

Bullets:
- Ugly game, but wins are always pretty. Looking at the upcoming schedule we might prepare for a tough stretch without many smiles however.
- DFS and Maxi had a nice pick and roll play at the very start of the game. I don't expect them to become playmakers, but if they can do that every once in a while, it's going to be a plus.
- Started to feel a little bit bad about Barnes. I hope he gets moved, for him and the Mavs' sake. He just isn't a great fit any longer and was hardly a factor today. That ball he dribbled of his foot while trying to bring it up in the second quarter was tough. Then of course he got traded and I sincerely hope he'll land a decent role in Sac.
- I liked our starting unit from a defensive and energy level aspect, but it's clear we have little to no scoring and playmaking outside Luka. Of course next season KP will be starting, which provides just that.
- Brunson's ability of posting up smaller guards gives me flashbacks to the Kid era. It's an underrated aspect when your backup PG can keep the Kyrie's or Kemba's of the world busy defensively.
- Luka looked lazy on defense more than once. I guess it's partly because he has to do everything on offense, but a lot of room for improvement obviously.
- Luka's awareness is just insane. Late in the game he realized that a Hornet was slow to get up after a missed basket and immediately pushed the pace to have numbers. Resulted in an And-1.
- Luka Doncic: 2-2 in the clutch for six big points (2-4 if you want to count the last two misses that came with Mavs up six). 3-18 (16) otherwise.
- Ugly shooting night from our future ROY, still triple-double. We're up to a point where you can debate whether his early efficiency or his late inefficiency are closer to what he'll be. If it's somewhat in the middle he'll be a superstar. So all cool.
- Think we saw a lot of what THJ is going to look like here. Has to do way less than with the Knicks and will probably be more efficient because of that. He's a bit of a chucker, but we knew that.
- Apparently Charlotte is not aware of the concept of two for one. They were in no rush with 32 or 34 secons left in quarters.
- I know I'm bitching about Harp a lot, but "nice find" on the simplest passes tends to get slightly annoying over time.
- DFS putbacks are the best putbacks.

Luka has a "meh" game, still scores 19 points and records a triple-double... Guys, this kid is ridiculous.

Dorian had a great game last night. With Barnes gone, surely he sticks in the S5 at the 3 or 4 and will have a perfect opportunity to break out with 29 games left this season. I can see him breaking loose in the way Josh Howard did here. Minus the super stoner vibe. His confidence has skyrocketed and that's huge for his development IMO.
How great it would be for this to end up being the breakout opportunity for him to become a mix of Josh Howard and the Matrix.
