I still feel like Mavs is less probable than the Spurs to win the series. The Spurs is that good. But 3:1 would definitely turn the thing around. Let's go!

Need to win. No momentum shift. Time for a monster game by Dirk.

Let's send the home whining. GO MAVS!

I remember back in 2006 thinking it was impossible for the Mavs to go up 3-1. Feel the same about today's game but it can be done. Go Mavs!!

Every past Mavs/Spurs series went 3-1 after four games. Take that for what you will.

Gotta protect our house. Go all out tonight and we'll probably win the series. Dirk goes for 25+, Monta gets 8asts, our bench blows out SA's, Dalembert gets a double-double, Mavs win. We comin' for you, Portland.

In years past, Pop decided to let Dirk get his and focused on shutting down Jason Terry. This was effective until 2006, when Devin Harris became the x-factor and sliced up the Spurs D.

This year, he's decided to shut down Dirk, but our remaining parts have come through. Ellis, and to a lesser extent Harris and Calderon, and in one moment, Vince. So how will he adjust? If he lets up on Dirk, expect a crushing performance.

In the regular season, we got killed by the likes of Green, Bellineli, Leonard, Diaw and Patty Mills. In the playoffs, we've let Manu, Parker and Duncan have monster games, and kept the rest in check, and that has worked for us. Carlisle will have to be ready for what Pop does next, but he's been spot on so far.

tbh as much as I believe in the Mavs and as much as I love this team..I was really expecting an easy win for the Spurs last game..and I'm so effing glad the Mavs proved me wrong.

I have no doubt in my mind that San Antonio will come out guns blazing this game. Hopefully we can weather the storm...if we do then I really think the Mavs can go up 3-1 on this team.

LETS GO MAVS

Mavs 101 Spurs 92. Tim Duncan gets so frustrated he attempts to put a wiccan spell on the Mavs players and coaches.

That's true, but Leonard and Splitter did have pretty big games in game 3, and it took a miracle 3 for the Mavs to win. You might be able to get away with one going off but anything more than that it's courting danger.

On Saturday, Vince Carter threw a dagger from the corner into the collective heart of the hated Spurs. Recognizing that a mortal wound has already been landed, the Spurs desperately want to escape enemy ground and flee home to try and prevent their inevitable demise. Unfortunately for the would-be favorites, they do not recognize the full measure of the Mavericks' resolve. Determined to crush the enemy's spirit and break their will before performing the final sacrifice to the basketball gods, the Mavericks enter the field of battle tonight with one thing in mind -- pain. Agony shall be upon the hated Spurs as they are tortured and wounded in preparation for their impending destruction.

The Skull of Roy Tarpley has spoken.

Mavs win.

They came back from 0-2 against the Hornets in 2008.

According to this, the stat is that when tied 1-1, they're 9-0 after winning game 3, and 0-8 after losing Game 3.

All wonderful historical stats, but this series is faaaaaaaar from over. The Spurs are going to come out blazing, and the Mavs have to respond. Kill, kill, kill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The closest analog to tonight's situation is probably Memphis-SA in 2011. Memphis was the 8-seed, of course, and was up 2-1 after a very close Game 3 win at home.

Final score of that Game 4: Memphis 104, SA 86.

*edit to add* Of course, the '06 series is a closer analog in a lot of ways, but I'm referring mostly to the perceived disparity in the matchup. Everybody knew the '06 series would be close.

I haven't been this nervous about a sports game since game 6 of the 2011 NBA Finals tbh...

also has anyone checked out the scores from the Spurs-Mavs series from 2006? Very effing similar

The Mavs scored 85 points in both game 1's
They scored 113 in both game 2's
And they won against the Spurs by 1 point in game 3, just like they did in game 3 of this series.

If the trend continues, then it means we win tonight go on to lose the next two and win game 7 in San Antonio..I'm just wondering which of our players will punch Kawhi Leonard in the nuts to get suspended lol

San Antonio is a proud organization.. They are well coached. They are talented. They will come out and give it and punch the Mavs in the face early again in my opinion. How will the Mavs respond? We'll see.

This is a wonderful site for those series odds: http://www.whowins.com/

Before the series, I would have been perfectly fine to head to SA on a split. Now let's go for the 3-1!

With the Mavs up 2-1 I've noticed a very pleasant thing here in San Antone. No talk about 4 championships, hall of famers, Coach of The Year, regular season dominance etc. It's eerily quite around here, nobody wants to talk basketball anymore! Go Mavs, keep the peace!!!!

Let's do this. Keep the same mindset going. Mavs have to manage on Ginobli non-stop. Watch out for the flops. Keep the pressure on Parker all game. Home court tonight has to be huge in fans. Make it louder than Saturday!
