How do you keep threads separated when this dickhead inserts himself directly into basketball conversation?

@realDonaldTrump: Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team.Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!

Glad to see the rest of the NBA isn't going to let this shit slide...

@KingJames: U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain't going! So therefore ain't no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!

@CP3: With everything that's going on in our country, why are YOU focused on who's kneeling and visiting the White House??? #StayInYoLane

@kobebryant: A #POTUS whose name alone creates division and anger. Whose words inspire dissension and hatred can't possibly "Make America Great Again"

@Money23Green: Still wondering how this guy is running our country....

@CJMcCollum: No. An imbecile like trump could never understand

@RealDealBeal23: How you gonna withdraw an invite that somebody already said they weren't attending?

@BaronDavis: Your a Clown. @realDonaldTrump - and yo dumbass fired !!

@TheRealJRSmith: @BarackObama we need you back ASAP

@realtuffjuice: Clearly @StephenCurry30 @warriors wasn't going

@rolopez42: It's ok @warriors, in a few months @realDonaldTrump probably won't be able to visit the White House either

Looks like college athletes aren't taking his shit either...

@abell: BREAKING: Now it's the @UNC basketball championship team not visiting @realdonaldtrump White House

And of course he's pissed off the entire NFL by calling protesters "sons of bitches," but there's way too much backlash to fit into one post... I guess he's doing something right because nobody is talking about McCain torpedoing his shitty healthcare bill today!

By not putting it General Mavs Discussion. I agree that Trump was being an idiot with his NFL comments. But the GSW look like little kids taking their ball and going home because they didn't get picked first. They wanted to be able to deny the white house visit but now that the white house has said they aren't going to even bother with the invitation, Adam Silver steps in and says he's disappointed???

Seems to me that if you really wanted to make a difference or a statement and you had the chance to say something directly to the president, that would be a great opportunity. Now the NBA looks really childish, but I'm sure the media will spin it the other way around.

There is absolutely NOTHING in Trump's actions that indicates he listens to anyone about anything... Even Ivanka says he doesn't really listen to her advice, so you think he's going to listen to Steph Curry and suddenly tell cops to stop killing black people? You Trump supporters live in pure delusion, Steph doesn't.

Plus, Steph turning down a White House invitation has already seen major results. He goaded the president into saying some pretty stupid shit about the NBA and NFL, which has owners (responsible for 7% of Trump's campaign donations) turning against him publicly. Hitting him in the wallet is the only thing he understands, and Curry just hit him hard (well, Trump hit himself, but it's not difficult to manipulate that idiot).

I honestly hate getting into political "debates" because most of the time it's 100% pointless for one reason or another. But you caught me in a good mood today ...

Again, this may be the case, but "taking my ball and going home" is definitely the more childish attitude to take. Seems to me, that they (and not just Curry) would use this as a prime opportunity to act as an good example. Even tell the media exactly what he plans to say to the president. Let me you ask this question, if YOU were extended an invitation to meet the president and it was publicly known, would you not rather say "Yes, I'm going to ask him about blah blah blah and see his response"?

I have several friends that are police officers. I would literally bet my life that they are not "killing black people". Would you bet your life that they do? This kind of statement is a huge part of the problem. Are there bad cops? YES! But I also believe that is the vast minority of them. I also give them a ton of leeway to deal with "work situations". If I have a bad day at work, I come home in a grumpy mood. If they have a bad at work, they go home in a body bag ... for $50-70k a year including overtime. There are bad people in every single profession. But I will never condemn all officers, fire fighters, or teachers. They all are grossly underpaid for what they do and deal with on a daily basis. If you want to come up with ways to figure out the bad ones and get them out, that's different. But to blanket make statements like "cops kill black people" is flat out wrong.

This is another one of my pet peaves .... "You Trump supporters". You must live in a 100% black-and-white world. Do I think Trump is an idiot? Do I wish he would put down the twitter crack pipe? Do I wish we had a different president? Yes, yes and yes. Do I wish Hillary was president over Trump? No. There is your black-and-white. I was given exactly 2 choices: Trump or Hillary. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I have more on this topic but I'll save it for the end which I hope you make it to before clicking on the reply button.

Again, it wasn't just Steph ... it was multiple players. What I actually found most interesting that from the comments I saw, Draymond was actually the most calm and reasonable of all of them. But what was the biggest kick in the nuts was when Adam Silver decided to step in and make a statement that he was disappointed. It should have just read something like this ... "I'm disappointed in the White House not extending us an invitation so that we could publicly deny it and show him up. So there. Nyah nyah nyah nyah nyaaaaaaah."

I'd like to come back to the "You Trump supporters". I know I'm on a basketball forum and not in any semblance of official debate, but this is exactly what turned lots of people away from Hillary and even Trump that were somewhere in the middle. When using phrases that denigrates ... like "sons of *****es" or "basket of deplorables" ... you may as well forget winning any arguments because you just proved that you have zero interest what is actually being said. If you want to have a serious discussion which is usually what goes on in these forums and why I've been here for nearly a decade now, it's the fact that most of time its reasonable argument for/against topics in an adult-like manner. Politics is an extremely difficult and touchy subject. Even though I'm hiding behind an internet wall and not face-to-face, I still respect the seriousness of this discussion. If all I wanted to do was rant and rave, then there are plenty of other places to do that. I also realize that being anti-republican (see the black-and-white reference there as well as the negative connotation?) is definitely the norm in here, but I just thought I would try to state something from a different perspective.

The POTUS getting on Twitter and attacking private citizens over a difference of opinion is FAR more immature than said citizens choosing not to let that president mug it up with them for a photo op... It's not like they're going to talk policy -- sports teams visit the White House as a PR move, and this team doesn't want to give Trump the publicity... Not to mention that the protest is working because we're talking about the issues surrounding it -- that's how protest works.

No rational person is saying ALL cops are killing black people, but the *bad* ones certainly are, and nobody is convicting them... This is an institutionalized problem that needs to be addressed, hence the protests (and the protests started when Obama, a black man, was president, so this certainly isn't just a Trump problem)... But Trump attacking people who are asking for an open dialogue about what they perceive as a problem only makes it look like there's an agenda against black people. At best, it's shitty optics -- at worst, it's state-sponsored racial oppression... This issue requires a delicate touch that Trump has proven himself incapable of, and it's only escalating tensions.

See, I completely understand voting against Hillary -- she was a shit candidate and you can erase her from existence right now and I wouldn't lose any sleep over it (I might even buy you a drink if you can find a magical, non-violent way to do it)... What I don't understand is why people keep supporting all the awful shit Trump says/does by saying "Hillary would have been worse" while ignoring the fact that Trump is the guy in the White House currently tearing this nation apart... Calling him out on his bullshit isn't going to put Clinton into the Oval Office -- that ship has sailed... Focus on NOW, focus on the FUTURE, let the past go... There's absolutely no reason to bring up Hillary Clinton at this point, her political career is over. Using her as an excuse to act like hypocrites isn't moving the dialogue forward.

And you guys need to stop defending this maniac just because he as an (R) next to his name... He has yet to follow through on any of his pie-in-the-sky promises, but you guys are still buying his campaign lies wholesale... He has the Presidency, Senate, House, and SCOTUS on his side, yet he can't actually get anything done because he has zero understanding of the law or his powers -- it's not like the Democrats can cockblock him without help from across the aisle... He's about to fail at repealing Obamacare AGAIN because he doesn't actually have a decent plan to replace it, he's scaled back The Wall talk because he doesn't actually have a decent plan to build it, he's escalating military aggression like he warned Hillary would do, he filled the swamp with Goldman-Sachs like he warned Hillary would do -- hell, at this point, he's guilty of pretty much everything that he accused Hillary of (not to mention Kushner, Ivanka, Manafort all caught using private email servers for government business)... And to make matters worse, he's going after private citizens who are expressing their 1st Amendment Rights instead of addressing the current crisis in US territory, Puerto Rico, or the brewing NUCLEAR WAR with North Korea.

Right now Donald Trump is the biggest threat to America and you guys are still talking about Hillary like she has any power... Maybe focus on the actual problem?

LOL CUBES. Theres no "we'll have to see" we know his ego cant handle any criticism. Leading up to the election he was hard on Trump. Feels like he's pulled back the harshness of it from what I see on twitter.

BUT HER EMAILS.

Anyone saying they still wouldnt go back and vote for Clinton knowing what we know now is flat out delusional. I do not like her, but she is a survivable event. This admin is madness. Trump swindled his base. Just like he swindled Puerto Rico. Just like he swindled New York. Just like he swindled the student body at Fraud University. Those people were screwed out of life savings.

He is good at sunshine pumping and bankrupting casinos. Only his base cant figure it out because he convinced them into believing any negative press is false. Trump does his repetitive culture war politics on twitter to get his base going. Works everytime. Meanwhile Muller and his team of experts continue the investigation.

I mean, how far the presidency bar and our morals have fallen when people defend a president calling private citizens sons of bitches and calling for their jobs at a RALLY EIGHT MONTHS INTO THE JOB. He goes to rallies because he craves adulation. He cant actually do anything of substance as a president so this is what he resorts to each time. Entire world is laughing.

This is the problem with a POTUS who refuses to take intelligence briefings...

@realDonaldTrump: Iran just test-fired a Ballistic Missile capable of reaching Israel. They are also working with North Korea. Not much of an agreement we have!

@brianklaas: Fox News is now reporting that this missile launch never happened. The President got duped by an old video from 7 months ago. Good grief.

FOX NEWS: Iran's supposed missile launch was fake, US officials say http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017...cials-say.html

EDIT: Liberals say Pence would be worse than Trump if impeached, but I guarantee you the guy wouldn't start WWIII with a Tweet.

I do agree that you aren't going to get someone to support your side if you call them racists and nazis. That's the big problem with liberals is that they're just a fractured mass of snowflakes that now live on social media thinking that likes and tweets are going to change the world. But they attack anyone and anything that doesn't agree with them which of course is the opposite of what a true liberal is supposed to be. They'll attack Bernie, Bill Maher, Pelosi, etc etc to the point where the only powerful people on their side are lazy twitter followers.

So we can wake on a daily basis foaming at the mouth about Trump, but votes will win the day. And there isn't a clear democractic/liberal leader that will unify what has become a very, very disorganized and all over the place far left.

Calling liberals "snowflakes" isn't going to move the conversation any further along than calling conservatives "racists."

And although I agree with your general point, Charlottesville changed everything because there were LITERAL Nazis rallying to support Trump... So any conservative that didn't outright denounce that shit was guilty by association -- and Trump was one of those conservatives who refused denounce it, so any conservative that didn't denounce HIM looked guilty by association. Sleep with dogs, get fleas.

I think Democrats are taking this opportunity to distance themselves from Hillary's fake-centrist, hawkish, pro-Wall Street grip on the party... Basically, Bernie is bringing the change to the Left that Trump promised (but has failed to deliver) to the Right... A shake-up is needed or else history is going to repeat itself.

I personally welcome the new shake-up that Trump and Bernie caused.

I just hope we survive it. Between climate change, Korea saying Trump's tweet was a declaration of war, and literal Nazis marching in the street, it's not looking great.

Thoughts on the Cowboys kneeling before and standing during the flag? I personally thought it was a great "let's find common ground" approach and should be largely viewed as a success. However early indications from twitter and polls show only about 30~ish share the view and 50~ish say no kneeling at all should be done and 20~ish saying it's pointless if it's not during. Some going as far as to say they are disavowing the Cowboys as their team after decades of viewership. Again showing to me that this country thrives on controversy and division more than unity no matter what hashtag or arm locking is being displayed.
