Nbadraft.net has us taking JJJ with WCJ going to Memphis at 4. Def seems like they go off of daily rumors, but that is starting to make sense if JJJ and Bamba won't play for Memphis.

Ayton
Bagley
Doncic
WCJ
JJJ

I have my concerns about Bamba and now NYK are looking to trade up for him, but dude is smart and charismatic. No denying that. Seems like he could be a great teaate and licker room guy. Just has to work on skills and making that IQ of his include BBIQ

It's just New York bluffing, mad because they got bamboozled on DSJ

Well if NY gets Bamba then we're assured either Doncic or JJJ so go right ahead.

Amazes me how many people still don't understand this draft.

The rumors going around now are that multiple teams want to trade up to 3, and if Sac passes on Doncic they will have multiple competing offers to choose from. Mavs are one of the teams.

Also, there is speculation that if Doncic is gone when Memphis picks, they would want to trade down, because there is no one they want at that spot.

It's alllllll smoke though. Teams with high picks are trying to sucker people in. Who doesn't want a top 5 pick in this draft? Wake me when something actually happens.

That's because Bamba and JJJ don't want to be there.

@TheLando_

“Any discussions Atlanta entertains has to be 6th or lower if they want Trae Young.

This will most likely come down to who can offer the best deal between Dallas and Orlando.

I think Orlando would be more willing to absorb Schroeder, and give up a future 1st than Dallas.”

This guy makes a good point. If Orlando stays at 6 they might take Young, so Atl is forced to deal with Mavs or Magic if Young is their guy.

They apparently are fielding calls. They want to dump Schroeder and/ or Bazemore, and like other players projected to go later in the draft. I donít know what smoke would accomplish here.

They can want to do whatever they want, but it doesn't mean anything until it actually happens.

All rumors are smoke until something actually happens. And if you hear about it before it happens, then it generally doesn't.

Who saw that Dwight Howard trade?

I thought you were saying smoke as in misdirection. Of course a trade isn't real until it happens. Most trades discussed between teams don't happen, whether you hear about them or not.

So.....what does Memphis want for their pick? I'm content with losing next years first rounder to get a first rounder this year........but it has to be top 4.

They are fielding offers from multiple teams. In every potential trade they are dumping Parsons. If the Mavs want the pick they will have to include Barnes and possibly a future pick.

I said this a couple months ago. Looking at the example of Kristaps Porzingis, who would not let his agent have contact with the 76ers, he was able to persuade them to pass on him at #3 (even though Porzingis is exactly who the 76ers wanted) & he became a Knick.

This seems to be working in the Mavs favor. Only Bagley has released his medical records to the Kings. The Hawks are a mystery & so are some of the players who may or may not want to play there. The Grizzlies seem hell bent on a win now with Conley Jr & Gasol strategy & they're in salary dump mode. Maybe the Mavs luck out & someone who shouldn't fall to us, based on the teams in front of us' draft boards, will because of some home cooking, if you will.

On the other hand, this appears to be a 4 player tier 1 & the Mavs have the 5th pick. That still irks me because if you finish with the worst record in the league, then you're guaranteed a top 4 pick. If the Kings do take Bagley & Ayton goes #1, then the Mavs would be able to take either Jackson Jr or Doncic at #4 and hold onto all future assets. If we have to trade away future assets to move up to 3 or 4, it'll only be because we didn't tank hard enough for the worst record in the league. A lot will disagree with me, but I just don't understand what those handful of extra wins accomplished.

Nonetheless, tomorrow will be a very exciting day! I'll barely be able to think about anything else while at work. I have my fingers crossed that somehow the Mavs can come away with Doncic or Jackson Jr. I'm not interested in anyone else. You could maybe talk me into Carter Jr or Mikal Bridges, but they'll seem like pretty sorry consolation prizes when Doncic and/or Jackson Jr could be had. I'll be downright pissed off if we don't move up to #4 and take Doncic because the organization thinks Harrison Barnes is the next "Whoever". He's not. He's just a guy, a guy who doesn't even average over 1.0 combined steals & blocks. That's JJ Redick territory.

Also, don't hear a lot of talk about it, but the Mavs are in great position with the #33 overall pick. We look back at this draft 5 years from now and there will be a half dozen or so guys drafted 33rd or later who are solid rotational players. I hope like hell the Mavs land one of them at 33! *fingers crossed*

Edit: Oh & Doncic will be an All Star, and Jackson Jr a 1st team All Defense player both numerous times. That's my prediction. Doncic makes the other players on the floor better on offense & it's not talked about enough with him. He'll make the game easier for a guy like Dwight Powell. Jackson Jr will make the game easier for other players on defense. A guy like Doug McDermott will have help on the perimter, knowing Jackson Jr is one of the best help-side defenders in the league. Some of this 2-3 years down the road, but that's when the Mavs will be ready to compete again, hopefully.

@wojespn: The Lakers have acquired the 39th pick in Thursday’s Draft from the 76ers, league source tells ESPN. Lakers will send Philly its 2019 second round pick via Bulls and cash

I'm 100% sure the Fish shit is the usual misinformed crap. I think the Grizz would move down to dump Parsons but not trade out like Fish suggests. I also absolutely refuse to believe as much as the Mavs love Barnes that it would be their love of him that would hold up a trade to get the 4th pick in this draft and give up only he and cap space. That would be so Fish to have some of the facts but not all of them. The ringer podcast - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbDCFMOS3U0 around 39:30 ... according to jason gallagher the "dream scenario" is Doncic falls to 4 and Mavs give up 5 and Barnes.... AND take on Parsons to move up one lousy spot. Love Doncic but I would be super pissed. And he, and bill simmons, act like this is a fantastic trade idea. So the disconnect between others and Fish is pretty wide. And as bad as that trade sounds to me, I actually think it's closer to the truth than anything from Fish. Prolly something like a swap of 4 and 5 was discussed and the only way Memphis was willing to do it was if we took Parsons.

My guess is the Grizz are willing to move down for the right offer. But there is a 0% chance imo they move completely out like Fish suggests and it's laughable to me that he is basically saying the Mavs are offering to take 2 bad parsons years for the 4th pick in a very good draft like it's reasonable. IIRC this all started with Fish also saying the Mavs wouldn't like to include wes and Powell in the mix but this is a salary dump idea for memphis why would they give up the 4th but take back equal salary without it being an all star player... i mean it's all so Fish. Buried very deep in all that "mavs exclusive" crap is a grain of truth I'm sure. It's just a whole lot of poo to sift through till you find it and by the time you do, you realize everyone else has already reported it, but correctly..... ugh.

It's almost comical how all over the place peoples' opinions are on this draft. Trying so desperately to figure out who will be a star or not is a lesson in futility...esp if you look at what happened last draft. I remember blood and guts because we didn't have a shot at the great Markelle Fultz!

Right now it's either JJJ or Bamba with MPJ as an outside shot at number 5. And you could argue any one of those guys has the best "ceiling" in the draft.

I agree that itís hard to believe Memphis would be willing to give up just to dump Parsons. His contract is an extreme albatross though. With Conley having 3 years left (at insane money) and Gasol having 2 years left, that is their window to win. Parsons gives them nothing on the court while also sapping any chance they have at signing a free agent. Plus they play in Memphis. NBA players are not exactly flocking to Memphis as free agents to play for the Grizz. Their best chance to acquire talent is through trade and Barnes might be the best player they can acquire. His contract also fits right in their window. Iím not saying itís likely, just that itís possible.

From the Mavs perspective, if they were to pull this off they would have the core of their team (DSJ and the two picks) all on rookie deals and about $60-$70 mil in cap space in 2 years.

Again, not likely but possible. Also, I heard that itís Carlisle that doesnít want to give up Barnes not necessarily Cuban or Donnie.

Man I want this to happen so bad.

I would really hate to give up that future pick but I would do it to have both 4 & 5 in this draft. Next yearís draft is said to be very weak, not nearly as good as this yearís draft. It would kick the rebuild into overdrive and allow the Mavs to have a TON of money coming off the books in 2 years. The Mavs would easily be able to attract free agents with Dennis, Doncic, Bamba (my preference) all with 2-3 years experience (and still on their rookie contracts) and $60-$70 mil in cap space.

There's a reason why Fish was run off of this site years ago...

Draftxpress guy thinks Sacramento will either pick Bagley or trade back for Porter.

Fish now saying we love Porter. Suggests that we trade down to get him and an asset.

Honestly if we end up with Carter or Porter I will be really upset.

I'm not fretting over players or scenarios anymore. Tonight can't come quick enough. I just want to know who we get to root for along with DSJ for the foreseeable future.

If we get Porter, then I'm assuming that all of his medicals checked out fine and they feel he will have a long, healthy career. And if that is the case, then he very well could be the best player in the draft.

Deal with Memphis unlikely at this stage for anyone. Givony tweet.

Hopefully we can put to rest having two top 5 picks. It was never going to happen
