Mavs Prospect G-League Watch
I know some have been posting updates in the Welcome to Dallas threads but figured we could use a place to consolidate highlights and stats and discuss our youngins. I've excluded Nate Hinton because I doubt he's in our long-term plans.
Tyrell Terry
At 20, Terry is the youngest player on the Hustle G-League squad. He has been showing off his range and a knack for finding the ball with 7 rebounds a game. So far in 6 games he's averaging:
32.8 MPG
17.2 PPG on 40 FG%, 41.2 3P%, and 91.7 FT%
7 RPG
3.7 APG
3.2 TOs
4 +/-
Highlight Videos
23 points vs. Erie BayHawks
19 points vs. Austin Spurs
18 points vs. Canton Charge
17 points vs. Salt Lake City
Tyler Bey
Bey is stuck on the worst team in the G-League bubble, but he has looked like a man amongst boys. He's springy, extremely active, and honestly might be the closest to getting called up by the Mavs. He cuts well, posts up well, is an elite rebounder for his size, and most importantly, he is hitting 1 three a game and taking 2.5. He's been a little overrated as a defender, but we could use his all around energy and rebounding.
28.4 MPG
17.2 PPG on 52.7 FG%, 40 3P%, and 75 FT%
8.8 RPG
3.7 Offensive Rebounds
1.2 APG
1.8 TOs
-5.5 +/-
Highlight Videos
21 points vs. the Clippers
22 points vs. the Hustle

He's on SLC Stars with Bey. Bey is tearing it up. He's getting major minutes and playing well.
Green has had four straight DNPs and hasn't played a single minute for them.

You mean the team that's 8 - 22 in the East?

I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean. Performance is performance and none of us are vouching for Yogi Ferrell's crappy defense or the other 8-9 guys on that roster.
Is the team good? Definitely not. Are Bey and Terry doing really well? Definitely.

Mavs are 14-15...they aren't really in position to look down on a Pistons team that on any given night probably has a 30-40% chance of beating them. WE are all playing bad football but I guess dog shit smells better than horse shit so I Guess......

My point is one team is rebuilding, and one team has serious playoff aspirations. Of course Saddiq Bey is getting minutes on the Pistons and of course he came into the league with an already established skill set. The same holds true for Bane. We knew that at the draft. We chose Green because he’s the superior perimeter defender and has higher upside.

Terry had 26 points vs. Raptors, and showed a very varied offensive game including off the dribble 3s, transition baskets at the hoop, and driving into the paint. He's freaking good. I expect he'll be a rotation player for us next year.
https://youtu.be/T58AxanpiEQ
He finished with 26 points on 9 - 18 shooting, 3 - 8 from three, 3 - 4 from the line, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 0 fouls, 3 steals, 2 turnovers.

Green gets some burn. 16-4-3 on 62% shooting (but 0% from three)
Bey had a bad scoring game 6pts, 9reb, 2stl, 1blk (30% field, 0% three)
Terry had a good game but then got injured again and was pulled with only 9min played

He looks extremely athletic. I for one am super excited to see what he can do with a full offseason/ camp. I think he's a starter next year.

I think he’s a starter here for a decade+. Could eventually be a switchable defender at 4 positions and lockdown at the the 2/3. Not sure about him starting NEXT season but it is possible. Having recently watched Bane and Nesmith I’m so glad we wound up with Green. Saddiq looks great too but they went with upside. Can’t argue with that.
I just pray they don’t toss him in a trade before the deadline, unless it’s getting us a star in return. Not for Gallo or some other equivalent guy on the downside of their career. Same with Terry and Bey. They need to be patient and develop our young guns, keep stockpiling assets.

Tyler Bey continues to look pretty damn good. Kid is an athlete. I see him as a supercharged Maxi Kleber if he gets that jumper down.

Greens defense was actually stellar that game too.
Still hasn’t found his offense but he was stifling

Green with 22 points, a SICK dunk, and elite defense. You can tell he's been working on stuff like his midrange pull-up. He's still raw and doesn't handle the ball well, but I take a roll of the dice on his potential over Saddiq Bey or Desmond Bane any day.
