Default How to watch games

I live in Dallas, and Frontier Cable no longer carries Fox Sports SW. what are my options for watching games this year? I considered League Pass, but Iím afraid local games will be blacked out. Any suggestions besides changing cable services?

If youíre ok with streaming then bump this thread before the first game and Iíll provide a website that links to different NBA streams on the internet. Youíll want a good antivirus software and adblocker lol.

Yeah, thatís kind of my fall back option, but Iíd prefer to know I can just flip it on the TV and not have to worry about streams cutting out or something. Iíd like to have Fox Sports so I can watch Stars games too when hockey starts back up.

The only blackout workaround I can think of is using a VPN to change your location/IP address.

Sling.com is $30 monthly. Locast.org is free after you register and works for any of the games that are broadcast locally. There's also Hulu and YouTube TV services. They're kinda pricey but at last have DVR service. I don't care about watching anything other than Mavericks games so I just find other ways to watch the games.

I use Hulu live. It's basically the same as having cable.

I think ATT NOW is the only service still carrying FSSW. I would hope the Mavericks would drop them as broadcasters or simulcast on fox 21.

YouTube tv or Hulu live will usually cave in before the start of the season but itís become a real shame the availability in watching our mavs. I first started watching the mavs in 92 as a young kid on an old black/white 13 inch. Back then it seemed like almost every game was on ch 21

I think it was rebranded FS1 or FS2 this year. I think Dish is carrying the games again

FS1 and FS2 are existing channels that I believe carry miscellaneous sports. They will not carry Mavs games.

If you are a real MFFL you can get league pass and a VPN. You use a VPN server that is out of this area and you can then stream the games. It will cost around $110 for a single team league pass and around $5 to $10 per month for a VPN.

I would advise against using buffstreamz. It is illegal as it broadcasts copywrited content and also may install malware and adware on your device. If you do opt to use it, also use a VPN.

Hoping like hell FSSW is back on YouTube TV. Otherwise I'll be hunting a new source.

Nope, and Cuban basically blew it off too. Hulu dropped them, frontier fios dropped them, and so did Youtube.

So choices in my area are Spectrum or At&t streaming.

Gonna be hard to keep those revenues up if people can't watch the games...

He did seem nonchalant about it. Saying you can get AttNow which is way more expensive to get the package including fssw. Is he invested in att?

Callie Caplan: Mark Cuban said on @dfwticket he expects to lose more than $100 million before NBA season gets back to normal: “I’ll keep on paying our folks. It’s just the right thing to do, but at the same time, we need to get back into our normal seasonality.”

And once again, limiting the ways for people to watch games is going to compound the issue when there are no fans in the arenas.

Yeah it's an absolute crisis.

I know sports networks cost a ton of money for licensing and so TV providers have to look good and hard at offering them or not, but it's super crappy to have only one provider in all of Texas/OK that carries it.

People can't go to games and people at home just get fed up and don't watch or else turn to pirated feeds. That's not good if you want to see a reliable revenue stream and a happy fanbase.

NBA really has to consider their blackout rules. It's probably built into TV contracts, but someone in Dallas should be able to buy League Pass and watch Mavericks basketball regardless of where they are. In that way, I am so glad I'm in AZ where I can watch everything but national and Suns games on LP and my 70-year-old dad has cable so I steal his FSAZ and ESPN/ABC streaming so I'm able to watch every game.

It's totally bizarre that people in the DFW area, who are more likely to be Mavs fans, are treated so poorly.

As much as I look forward to games and really want to watch, I almost hope they lose their asses on all this and the viewership plummets.

This is pretty much where Iím at. Looks like Iím going to have to resort to streaming games since no cable providers near me carry FSSW. Kinda shitty that Iím not able to watch my local team when I pay for cable. Iím not super interested in finding a working stream every game and hoping it doesnít cut out in the middle of a game.

Well Cuban must have stake in Sinclair or something because his response was what set a lot of people off. If they want a monopoly on viewing, fine, but don't bs us by saying we have many ways to watch the Mavs.

No, we don't. The worst part is that most of us are willing to pay for it and not illegal stream. I have no clue how any entity can exist when they basically refuse peoples' money.

Hmm. Stake in Sinclair or AttNow? The way he's been so dismissive of everything else and suggesting Att is what makes me wonder.

Maybe both? I know the Mavs obviously have a good relationship with Fox and don't want to piss off their sponsors.

But I wonder how happy the sponsors are when people can't watch the games?

Maybe, idk. His response was very off-putting. I don't claim to know all the moving parts of their contracts, aside from what he said about Sinclair having a contract with the Mavs. Reading on Twitter, there are a ton of other people calling bullshit and reeling about how to watch. If I were him, I would be almost terrified that it's cutting it so close to the season and fans don't have any tangible answers. Not sure but ATTNow may not even be an option to those in Apartment complexes who are under contract such as Spectrum etc.

ATTNow is a streaming service. If you have internet (including a smartphone) you can get it. Don't know about the pricing however.

I get people feel Cuban is being too nonchalant, but I'm not sure there's much he can actually do. He has no control over Fox's contracts with TV providers, and at least until his current contracts are up, he has no legal right to move television rights somewhere that's not already covered.

I get people feel Cuban is being too nonchalant, but I'm not sure there's much he can actually do. He has no control over Fox's contracts with TV providers, and at least until his current contracts are up, he has no legal right to move television rights somewhere that's not already covered.
It's more than just being nonchalant though. He is either being willfully ignorant or is lying to us. I think people are just stunned that he wouldn't be at least a little upset about this or at least side with us in some way. I think Frontier fios cutting them should be a big alarm that something needs to change. At&t cable isn't offered in my area. I live in Plano too...not on the other side of the moon.

And one single streamer isn't sustainable. Esp if Spectrum decides to cut them as well. Like, why would I sign a two year contract with these cable companies if I don't know for sure if I can watch the Mavs?

It's a mess, and I basically won't be able to watch them this season unless I just give in to another streaming service I don't need for one single thing.

Yea, maybe it's the old Att stream service that actually sent you a small device. The package including FSSW that I saw was $40+ more than Youtube Tv.

As far as what Cuban can or can't do I'm not sure either, but when you are the talent/entertainment and there is a very large fanbase with more anticipation than I can remember in years, you at the very least have leverage going forward. 'Get a deal done or we will not be renewing your contract with us' type thing, but from the minimal I gather from Cuban, he seems pretty content with the current situation. Hopefully there is much more progress behind the scenes than it appears.

Iím in Plano too and also have Frontier. I was debating Hulu TV, but I really donít want to dish out $50 for a streaming service just to watch the Mavs. Also it sounds like Hulu may not even have FSSW, so Iím stuck.

Hulu dropped them in late October. That is what I used last season.

Seems like there are only a couple of choices

1) Get ATT Now ($55 a month)
2) Get League Pass and a VPN ($120 one time purchase + VPN costs which are generally cheap)
3) Pirate the @#$% out of it

NBA League Pass allows you to select individual team package for like $20 bucks a month

I don't think it helps those in local Dallas area but out here in AZ I just use sling TV through my XBOX and get all the Mavs games.

Go with international LP and a VPN. Google whats the cheapest ILP, mostly its the Argentina one for Like 60-70 Bucks.

A VPN everyone should have/use in 2020 anyway

60 or 70$ for just league pass? I don't need to watch that many other teams. If I wanted to have an extra 60-70$ expense, I'd just do AttNow so I can still have other channels. Technically its less about the money and more about the inconvenience and hurdles they have put in front of us local fans.
