Wow, pretty good move if we don't give up much. Better than the free agent riff-raff we've been discussing.

Mavs generally kill it with trades. Def worth that Utah pick.

WCS for only a second rounder? Seems like too much of a steal. GS must be gearing up for a trade.

Or that's what happens when you're really terrible. Good teams almost always have leverage in trades.

Best part is WCS has a player option next season, and it's for peanuts should he choose to stay.

Heís putting 8pts 6reb and a block in 20 min. I imagine how more talent around him will help too. Worst case he sucks, and we send him away. Low risk move.

Some reporters are speculating that they are doing this to try to get under the tax line.

That second round pick should be really low since Utah is doing well, so I'm all for this trade. WCS is only 26.

He has a player option for next year which I assume he will opt out of, but for just a second rounder and if it means keeping KP happy by playing PF only, it's a good trade even if he were to leave the Mavs next year.

Yeah that's a steal. I hope the Mavs can find some more deals like these.

For the right price....this can be a great move. I'm also not sure if he's a finished product. This guy was a lottery pick. I don't think his ceiling is a superstar but this could be that guy we want that start to get closer to his potential. The new Powell, Chandler, etc.

We're giving up Roby in the deal according to cbssports.

NM read it wrong, we traded Roby to OKC earlier today to make a roster spot.

I kinda feel they gave up on him too quick.

Had to make a roster spot, 15th man is always the sacrificial goat.

i mean more than likely Roby will never be anything, but how do they even know yet it's January in his rookie season and he has played no meaningful minutes. I guess they didn't like what they saw with the Legends. He was only scoring like 9 ppg although 7 rebounds a steal and nearly 2 blocks.

I'm just curious what they see in Antonius Cleveland who's 25 vs Roby who's only 21.

Maybe OKC was interested in Roby, and didnít want Cleveland.

With Justin Jackson......I never thought Roby would ever have a role here. Factor in how young he is too? He was never going to carve out a role on this team. Not anytime soon anyway.

I read that Cauley-Stein reportedly turned down over 9m per from Charlotte to take 2.3m with the Warriors. I’m no math wiz, but maybe he lost a lot of dough and that seems kind of dumb.

Bet he's mad he got traded, he just missed out on a Championship the Warriors are about to win. Oh wait.

He has tattoos on his face. Idk how anyone could expect anything but dumb from him.

I feel a Noel repeat. Hopefully I'm wrong.

+1, I'm not a fan of tattoos in general (no offense to anyone that has one, or many) but anything above the neck you may as well wear a mask that says you're dumb.

We did but when Adams is out like tonight....he's putting together some good minutes. I'd love to have someone with his skillset on this team.

I think at the time they expected Steph to be there and at least be a playoff contender. But at the same time....guys go to Charlotte to die pretty much. Especially bigs.

This could work. A good, cheap option to try to pick up the roll man slack left by Powell.

Gets the center spot under control until next year. Then we have Powell back and can address the center position in free agency. Solid move.

So we only used part the TE, correct? We could theoretically still use 8.5million or whatever is left? If we had a bigger contract like Gallo we wanted to trade for using Lee. Not saying they will, just wanted to verify.

Appear that way..

Bobby Marks: Dallas is acquiring Cauley-Stein with the $11.7M trade exception created from the Harrison Barnes trade last February. The exception is needed because WCS signed for part of the non-tax ML (slightly north of the minimum). Golden State will now have a $2.17M trade exception. Ė via Twitter BobbyMarks42

First off this is a solid pickup for the mavs especially for peanuts

2nd of all WCS is a terrific roll man and does a good job contesting shots at the rim

Yes he has struggled finding his way on poor teams that lacked veteran leadership

The warriors actually felt like he would be a good rotation big with Looney and they clearly expected to still make the playoffs prior to Steph getting hurt

Dude is a lot similar to a younger New Orleans Ty Chandler clone

Now I believe if RC can keep him engaged doing games this guy can be a solid 18 mpg center for us who can also defend out in space

But i have zero confidence that he will buy in if gets consistent DNP'S like Noel or McGee did in Dallas

Both of those players have gone on to be solid key rotation players elsewhere only because they are being allowed to play consistent minutes every night

WCS can help this team but he sits on the bench consistently and doesn't get to play this move is going to be worthless.

Also for those making comments about his tats I think that is so damn pretty

[QUOTE=Dallas41;1471054]First off this is a solid pickup for the mavs especially for peanuts

Assuming you actually meant pretty, c'mon... No it's not.

My only worry is same as you. Heís always struggled with hustle the anti Powell in that dept. I think heíll butt heads with RC then doghouse then thatíll be it. He has potential ala Noel and McGee but we know how that went in Dallas. Anyone mentioning tattoos is full boomer mode.

Well on one hand WCS has some Javale McGee in him which might not jive with Rick, but on the other hand it does show that replacing Powell's production wasn't the hardest thing to achieve.

WCS is a better shot blocker than Powell, but he can't hit a shot outside of 3 feet.

My only interaction with WCS, he told myself @See_Hendo and @MavsDraft he wanted to play in Dallas. That was last season. Wish fulfilled 😎#MFFL
