Next game i start a drinking game...a shot everytime Powell falls to the floor...

He must lead the league in trips to the floor....

edit: Powell falls to the floor...Joseph all open and drops the 3

Brunson was also a big reason why the Mavs were ready to move on from DSJ and not trying to accept and work through his diva crap and lack of playmaking

Brunson with a career-high 24 points, topping his previous high of 22 that he got against Denver last week.

Dirk coming HARD for Wilt, scoring double-digit points for the third game in a row.

Luka with 26/10/7, which is just becoming routine for the kid... Would have had another trip-dub if guys could hit their shots.

Would you call Luka 19 or 20 right now? He's from Slovenia, and it's 7 hours ahead there right now so it's his birthday there. Google says he is 20 and acknowledges that his birthday is February 28th. Also happy birthday to Devin Harris. We share this birthday.

THJ has been interesting lately. Watching him makes you think he is having a bad game and chucking, which at time he does. But then you look at his numbers and he’s got 20 pts a few rebounds and a few assist on some decent shooting numbers. This has happened to me in a few fames now.

Luka with another easy game...he’s just makes everything look effortless and gets to his numbers no matter what even when he has a bad game. Seemed to struggle a little with his handle to start this game...not sure why but twice he just lost the ball.

BRUNSON...steady and skilled. Great game by him and he just continues to get better. I have said it all along, he is a great fit for this team and alongside Luka.

I like that he makes quick decisions. If he takes a shot he didn't jab step 8 times and back down his guy at the 3pt line and iso it for 12 seconds killing the flow like Barnes. He's going to have bad moments but I expect he will look better next year with KP Luka + whoever we add with cap space.

with the Mavs 41% from the field and 31% from downtown...i still hate his shot selection. Way too many bad contested shots with enough time on the clock to go for something better

Just got back from the game...

-Wild crowd for a Wednesday. You would have thought it was Saturday. Few empty seats
-Was worried when TJ Leaf started scoring points
-One of THJ's better games. Just more to his game than Wes.
-Nice to see Dirk starting. Crowd goes wild when he shoots.
-Powell was trash in the first half. Completely different in the second.
-Brunson is playing the sneaky game much like JJB. Working.
-Luka clutch as always, but man do his legs look tired. And they look that way for most of the game.
-DFS and Kleber very quiet.
-Almost forgot, a big Slovenian family right next to me in matching shirts and Slovenian flags.

I think he still needs some time to adjust from his alpha role with NYK... I'm guessing a full training camp should help fix some of this.

Jalen Brunson's 3-point shooting:

Games 1-26: 10 for 43 (23.3 percent)
Games 27-53: 30 for 64 (46.9 percent)

With Luka and KP we need Kleber more than Powell. So i pray that Powell opts out and leaves and we invest 6-7m in Kleber instead.

TJ Leaf serves up another batch of "Powell sucks at defense" with a 9/7/1/1 4-4FG in just 17min

Praising a 12/7/2 stats line in 37 min while another bench bigmen scrub went off shows everything about Dwight Powell.

I'd say criticizing a 12/7/2 stat line in a win (on the heels of a 24 pt, 10/11 shooting, 8 board performance) says more about the 'critic'.

I never praise stat lines of players who give it all away on the other side of the court. I will never praise the output of Wiggins....Jabari Parker...Carmella Anthony etc etc

Gotta admit, watching Luka so much and so closely has warped my idea of rookie progression somewhat. I pegged Brunson too quick as a 3rd guard, smart/doesn’t turn it over type guy, but he really has skills beyond that. His toughness is really going to make
him valuable, and his offensive game looks good. I guess next to Luka not immediately looking like a 10 year starter makes you not seem as good as you are lol

Brunson being 22 years old and having been in multiple deep tournament runs including winning it all has set him up well. Obviously the NBA is a big step, but he's definitely more along the curve than most rookies. He plays with such a calm demeanor.

Heís developed into a great offensive player, who would be a viable player if he could hit the three, or rebound, or play defense. Any one of those three ifs, and I would be on your side. He desperately needs to add that three, because the other two arenít happening.
