Default Players who put on a Mavericks uniform but were never Mavs to you

Which Mavs would you like to forget were ever here?

Derek Fisher? Dennis Rodman? Rajon Rondo? Lamar Odom? Troy Murphy? I'm sure there are lots of Mavericks we're not proud of having on our team.

Wow there's a name I haven't heard in a while. I remember Donnie was seriously considering taking him at #5 the year we drafted Devin but Big Don talked him out of it. We ended up trading for the 17th pick and took him there and he proceeded to almost immediately bust out of the league. Don saved us from disaster thankfully. The pick we traded turned into Linas Kleiza so we didn't really miss out on much.

If someone traded a future first these days for Podkolzin, they would be immediately fired

Tariq-Abdul Wahad was utterly shameless. He was working on his fashion website while he was "injured". This is what Mark Cuban said about him: "I had one guy, Tariq Abdul-Wahad, I said don't ever come back here again. I'm paying you. I don't care. I don't want you anywhere near us."

Doug Christie annoyed everyone because he had to have his wife follow behind the team bus in a car whenever possible. Their relationship was in dire need of Dr. Phil.

Fisher pretty much used his very ill son to say he needed to go back and take care of him, and then he turned around and signed with another team.

Odom isn't worth discussing.

A lot of guys didn't have much choice. They were traded or drafted and just didn't amount to much. But the above list disgusted me out of their entitlement.

I definitely think of a Greg Buckner as a Mav. Wasn’t he drafted by the Mavs in the second round the year Dirk came out? I think I’ll always remember how Nellie would use the 6’4” Buckner to guard everyone from pgs to centers. I imagine Buckner had to guard Shaq a time or two during his time with the Mavs. I’m sure Nellie’s thought was anybody but Bradley!

A lot of good names here.

One guy I disliked during his time with the Mavs (more than anything because of how pointless and hopeless it all was) was Mike James in 2013-2014.

The guy might have been a class act for all I know, but he was super old and washed up and we kept playing him big minutes, even starting a few games. Was a bit depressing that we couldn't find anyone better or younger to play instead, just a few years removed from a championship. To go from winning it all in 2011-2012 to have Mike James starting two years later was rough.

I think of so many guys in Dirk's later years who were stars once upon a time and I would have killed to have them in their primes, but were washed up once they got here. Amare Stoudemire, Elton Brand, Deron Willams, and of course the infamous Lamar Odom.

Dwight Howard and Melo are still available if we want to add up to that list...

Kiki never wore a uniform. He demanded a trade right after being drafted by the Mavs. That's why it was a tradition to boo him every time he came to Dallas

Tim Thomas

I actually really liked his game during his prime and I believe he left the team for legit family reasons unlike Fisher.

The obvious are

Rondo
Christie
Fisher
Odom

Antoine Walker is a good one. I definitely don’t think of him as a Maverick. I must have blacked out when Tim Thomas was on the Mavs. I had to look that up to believe it. I don’t even have a vague recollection of that.
