Otis is sending out all kinds of mixed signals right now, and IMO the most likely explanation is that he's still trying to negotiate with free agents, other teams, etc. to fill out his roster. Maintaining the option to match on Gortat is one of the tools he has at his disposal to maintain some leverage in the negotiations. Matching would still cost the Magic a good 8-9 million over what it'd cost to acquire an acceptable backup for Dwight through other means, and that remains a hefty price to pay for a guy who'd figure to play somewhere between 6-12 mpg in a playoff series. We'll see.
