Well I would definitely hit up the San Diego Zoo while you're there. I'm not sure about these days, but it used to be quite a well known zoo. Panda Bears and Polar bears I remember the most from my visits there.
And of course there's Sea World, which is worth seeing if you've never seen anything like that.
Mostly, enjoy the beach. Go to Coronado island.
