that is not the question which joe wilson embarrassed himself, that is a completely seperate issue of if an illegal resident who needs medical care can be denied medical care.
the current law says that everyone, legal or illegal, seeking medical care will receive such.
that is the law, a law that joe wilson voted yes to in 2003.
the current health care reform bill says that illegal residents will not be allowed to purchase insurance in the proposed health care insurance exchange. the bill also does not allow for any public subsidy be paid to an illegal resident purchasing health care insurance.
that is the issue to which obama was speaking about, to which joe wilson incorrectly and disrespectfully yelled "you lie".
obama was correct and truthful, joe wilson was wrong and dishonest.
