That strikes me as a bit odd that Gooden's agent designed the contract on make-good like that. In case the fit isn't right? That somehow sounds pretty pessimistic about Gooden's chances at success here, especially from his agent. I'm not an expert on agents and contracts, but isn't it pretty stupid to turn down a multi-year deal for someone like him? Is there a richer market in free agency for Gooden next summer? A guy who has been on seven teams wants to re-test the market again?
