I'm watching S0409 of The Wire.

I am starting to think the ultimate triumph of this show, aside from the the greatness of McNulty and Bunk, is it's ability to create sympathetic bad guys. The humanization of the kingpins, the lieutenants and the corner boys is uncanny. Omar is the pinnacle of these accomplishments. There isn't a more despicable human on the show that garners more viewer sympathy.
