I think this is not only interesting, but very relevant to what the mavs do in terms of building their future rosters. With a still in his prime Dirk in place, it would make it that much easier to build around, swap pieces in and out as needed, etc.

Couple things come to mind - his raw athleticism is not a huge part of his game so he's got a good chance of staying at this high level. But one thing we don't know is when will his inner drive to compete will start to dwindle. In any event, 5 years sounds like a long time given his age... i'd be hopeful for 2-3 years of prime, followed by 2-3 years of still good but not dominant.
