However, the potential injury risk that comes along with him after his knee injury is just one of those risks one has to take at times. I don't think we should have matched the Clippers' offer. That said, Caron's been playing well enough so far to justify his salary and I still like to hold him in pretty high regard. He's not as worthless as some people around here made him out to be.

He didn't fit our system very well, we already had a SF better than him, and he was coming off a major injury. These are the reasons I had no interest in giving him a multi-year deal. He's playing well enough now that he's probably put to rest the concerns about his knee, but that doesn't change my other two issues. Is he worth $5 Mil a year in the general sense? Maybe. Would it have been smart for the Mavs to do it, no matter what their plans in 2012 were? No.
