Crowder doesn't mind the rookie hazing
DALLAS -- NBA rookies are often hazed by their veteran teammates. But the rookies know it's all in fun and games, and no one is trying to do them any bodily harm.
Take the case of Dallas Mavericks rookie Jae Crowder. He was all smiles Tuesday when he said: "When we took the overseas trip (Oct. 3-10 to Germany and Spain), I was the rookie that had to get all the chicken.
"(Some) $250 worth of chicken for the whole team.''
And that's not all that rookies Jared Cunningham, Bernard James and Crowder have to encounter.
"We come in early, just have to do little stuff -- get the towels ready for the older guys,'' Crowder said. "We don’t have to wear any backpacks right now, but we have to come in a little earlier than
normal and get the stuff ready for the older guys.
"Oh yeah, after practice and when we’re on the road (the rookies have to) get the wet jerseys and stuff and take them to the cleaners. Little stuff like that, but it's all fun and games. We have to respect those older guys.''
