Remember Lin last year? He was putting up much better numbers than those, and for a longer time, yet, most knew it won't last. He started out well this year again, but chances are, it won't last. It is very, very rare in the NBA that a player who didn't do anything at a young age will suddenly become a completely different player among the pros.

Some does it, and even make a couple of all-star team, but there is literally nobody in NBA history who wasn't highly touted at a young age, and somehow managed to become a superstar. Talent shows, and it shows early. I know you didn't say anything about Carter-Williams being a superstar, i just added that to the convo.
He's already had a few similar games. His first game wasn't a season high for points, assists or rebounds. He just put up a 29 point 7 steal 6 rebound game on Indiana of all teams on 55% shooting.
