its pretty simple really.
average FG% 45
average 3P% 36
per 100 shots FG = 90 points
per 100 shots 3pt = 108 points
this is the philosophy Daryl Morey and so many other stat geeks are preaching... shots in paint for high percentages and high chance of drawing fouls or just throw it out for the 3 pt shot. those options give you the highest probability to put the most points up on the board.
whats great is this worked well in the regular season but watching aldridge tear the rockets a new one completely throws this philosophy out the window.
