Undersized centers, ridiculous draft flyers, undersized guards, guards who can't shoot. I mean really. Donnie/Cuban can make trades for sure, but a philosophy... Maybe since Carlisle is here maybe he can impart some, ever since Donnie/Nellie has been running it, I haven't seen much of a philosophy at all, other than sort of fantasy basketball. And tbh I may have more of a philosophy picking my ff football team than I see with the Mavs.
I see some people talk about how the Mavs have made the playoffs so many years in a row.. I get it. Basketball is a much different sport than baseball or football. One transcendent star can often carry a team on his back. So yes, the Mavs did a great job in the late 90's of drafting/trading for Dirk. I completely get that. But yes, this is basketball. Guys like Dirk don't come around that often. And quite frankly, the Mavs are doing a pretty decent job of pissing away his twilight years.
