Actually, I don't think Barea helps with slowing down the quick PG's all that much. That's pretty much what he'll be for the Mavs.. a quick PG that can break his man down off the dribble and get into the lane. The Spurs had no answer for him. I kinda think that's why he's back in a Mavs uniform.. for that type of a role.
