McMahon with more on the Deandre situation.

I haven't listened but a poster on Scout gives a summary. I thought this part was interesting.
"The Mavs' whole pitch was that they would turn DeAndre into a franchise player, the best center in the league, an MVP candidate, a perennial All-Star. When DeAndre got to Houston, John Lucas started talking to him about what that would mean, in practical terms -- that he would be the focus of the opponents' defensive efforts, that he would have to step up his game at every level, and that would mean learning new skills, and putting in a lot of work.
To add fuel to the fire, Mark went on the radio in Dallas and talked about DeAndre being the face of the franchise, Shaq-like, a 20-and-20 guy, etc. The national press reacted to that story, in large part, with ridicule. DeAndre was hearing about that interview and reading the reactions to it, and ultimately decided that being a significant piece, in a role that he was comfortable filling, on a team capable of contending now sounded pretty good after all. In retrospect, the interview may well have really hurt the Mavericks."
