Yeah, I think you are right, if I think about it logically. I guess a tear often comes from a smaller, partial tear, or maybe micro tears in the ligament, or tendon in this case, but yeah, I think it needs a specific angle and force to tear up. I gues inflammation could make it more susceptible for tearing? I don't know, not a doctor, obviously.
