If you do not have the assets to be competitive for guys like Gordon, Fournier, Norman Powell, or Vucevic then you should look to shore up the middle and bottom part of your bench. The Mavs' middle bench is streaky at best. Brunson is a keeper and maybe so is THJ. But who else on the Mavs bench makes a consistent contribution? My point isn't that the Mavs' bench sucks, but rather there should be opportunities to upgrade the roster with the assets they have in hand and who knows, maybe one of them catches fire and exceeds expectations. One example, would be Wayne Ellington. Why not see what it would take to make that trade. He would fill a role similar to Seth Curry. Small trade but potentially big payoff.
