HOLLADAY, Utah -- Prosecutors in a Salt Lake City suburb decided Tuesday to file an assault charges against former Utah Jazz center Olden Polynice.
The misdemeanor charge, filed in Holladay Justice Court, stems from a fight at the Old Mill Golf Course on July 23. According to court documents, Polynice is accused of hitting and spitting on another golfer after being hit by a golf ball.
Polynice, 36, couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Earlier this summer, the 7-foot, 250-pound center opted out of a guaranteed $2.4 million contract with the Utah Jazz to test the free-agent market.
Tuesday's assault charge appears to violate the terms of his probation in another case. He pleaded guilty in January to three misdemeanor charges stemming from two road-rage incidents last fall where he flashed a fake police badge.
