Beloki goes down in a crash, which halted Lances sprint for the stage win (he had to swerve to avoid the crash and went into a field but recovered nicely). No word on Beloki's injuries, but the website says it does not look good. Vinokourov wins his first Tour stage and moves himself into second place overall behind Lance Armstrong, who will retain the yellow jersey.

Next up Stage 10, Gap to Marseilles. This is an almost entirely downhill stage. Sprinters should do well again. Wednesday is a rest day.

Edit: Update - According to lancearmstrong.com Beloki landed on his head and shoulder and badly damaged his elbow. He is likely out of the race.
