SAN ANTONIO - Mavericks owner Mark Cuban laughed and said reports Saturday night of a blockbuster trade with Portland were untrue.
Broadcast reports had the Mavericks and Trail Blazers agreeing on a trade that would send Antawn Jamison and Michael Finley to Portland for Rasheed Wallace and Bonzi Wells.
"There is no trade," Cuban said. "None. It's ridiculous. We want this team to stay together and play together. It's not about getting anyone else or swapping. We have great, great, great guys on this team. There is no reason to make a trade."
The Mavs have made two blockbuster trades since the end of last season, with Jamison and Antoine Walker being the primary additions. Cuban said the franchise is prepared to stand pat with its current team.
