Default Cavs deal Davis and Mihm to Boston

Celtics trade for Ricky Davis
12/15/2003

According to ESPN.com, the Cleveland Cavaliers have traded disgruntled swingman Ricky Davis, along with big men Chris Mihm and Michael Stewart to the Boston Celtics in exchange for centre Tony Battie and small forwards Eric Williams and Kedrick Brown.

Davis, who is averaging 15.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per games despite being in coach Paul Silas' doghouse for much of the season, will give the Celtics a much-needed second scoring option behind Paul Pierce.

In his sixth season, Davis scored a career-high 20.2 points per game last year. Mihm (6.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in his fourth season) should move into the Celtics' regular rotation and Stewart will provide depth to a Celtics front line that is likely to be without Raef LaFrentz for the rest of the season.

The Cavaliers get a stronger defensive post presence in the seventh-year man Battie (5.9 points, 5.1 rebounds per game) and a pair of useful perimeter players that will likely share minutes on the wing in Cleveland with Darius Miles and Ira Newble.

Williams is scoring 11.6 points per game this season, his ninth in the NBA, while Brown is averaging a career-best 5.2 points per game in his third NBA campaign.
