The Spurs don't have any money, but they do have 1 open roster spot.

There are a couple things to keep him out of San Antonio. They have Duncan, Rose, and Horry back at PF. Since they play a more traditional lineup than Dallas, you can expect to see plenty of Bruce El-Bowen and Diaper Rash at the 3 and 5.

The Mavs have the same money, are closest to his home, and need a PF. He hasn't won a title and neither have the Mavs. He could play decent minutes with Dirk on the floor and the minutes when Dirk isn't out there.

There is still a chance that he goes to Miami, so either he has been waiting for something to open up somewhere, see what all the teams do, or is trying to decide if he'll still play.

I say Malone goes to Dallas or retires. I'll give him a lot of credit if he goes back to the Lakers. The Jazz might take him back if he wanted to go.
