Annecdote: Back in the day, I was chatting with a local democratic congressman's staffer and we were commenting on the kind of calls we get. She commented that so many calls started off with "The fascists at the VA...", "the nazi's at the post office..., "the fascists at the IRS..." I commented that every call we got started with "The commies at the VA...", "the communists at the post office..., "the socialists at the IRS..." She commented, "I wonder why that is." I said it was easy to figure out: they really think her office was filled with a bunch of commies and they didn't want to offend her, and they really thought my office was filled with a bunch of nazis and fascists and they didn't want to offend me.
