Default Rangers Moves

1. Texas has officially signed righthander Chris Young to a three-year contract that also includes a club option for 2008. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Todd Wills of the Dallas Morning News reported this morning that it's a $1.5 million deal.

2. Texas has claimed second baseman Ruddy Yan off waivers from the Chicago White Sox. Yan was one of the eight players that the White Sox made available to the Rangers at the time of the Carl Everett trade in the summer of 2003. A member of Chicago's 40-man roster until being placed on waivers, he goes onto the Rangers' 40-man roster by virtue of the claim.

3. The Rangers also signed 15 players to minor league deals for 2005, inviting the following 13 to big league spring training: pitchers Rosman Garcia, John Wasdin, Lou Pote, Agustin Montero, Shane Bazzell, Vladimir Nunez, Jose Veras, and Jason Standridge; infielders Manny Alexander and Esteban German; and outfielders Chad Allen, Jason Conti, and Andres Torres.

First baseman Jason Hart and shortstop Jace Brewer were also signed to minor league contracts but were not invited to big league camp.
