and never understood the argument that the offside rule prevents an attacking player to be close to the goal all the time. so what if he does? what's so bad about it? whatever it is I'll take it instead of the million times goals are disallowed because of offside calls. this rule is so unnecessary and the sideline referee is wrong about 30% of the times (just a wild guess of mine...) because he usually is not able to see the passing player and the player receiving the pass at the same time.
