IMHO the Miers nomination made little sense when it was offered. However, at least she is an attorney, it would be a mistake of epic proportions to nominate anybody who is not legally trained.

Sowell makes a better nominee for the Fed than he does for a Judgeship. He's an economist by education.

A seat on the Supreme Court is not a position for on-the-job training.
