If the Mavs want to win a championship they must position themselves with marketable players OR agressively push the market value of players like Devin, Josh and Marquis...
We saw throughout the playoffs how Dirk rarely got the calls other "superstars" got. Why? I say because he's not carrying the marketablilty level the other superstars have. It's totally obvious. Who's more marketable Marion or Dirk?
I know Dirk is a championship piece, and I want to keep him, but for the first time I am beginning to question the strategy of building around Dirk. Dirk simply is not a big enough story line. The Mavs must find a more appealing story... If it's AI then the Mavs must throw mamma under the bus to get him... Miami got Shaq basically for Odom and a bunch of cap room.
The Mavs are sort of the opposite of Miami, they have all the pieces just not the marketable player, Miami had Wade and then unloaded virtually their entire team to get a second marketable player and then added a bunch of retreads...
