Most Firewire cards are plug and play.... shocked that your's isn't. The fact that they didn't give you a driver disk would indicate that they are expecting it to be plug and play.

I did a cursory search on NEC's website but couldn't find anything specific. Is it just NEC chipset? Is there a brand name on the thing? Is there a model number? Part number? Any kind of identifying piece of information?
