Now this is just ridiculous. Mavs lose a closely contested PLAYOFF game by TWO points, the league admits the refs made errors costing the team at least TWO points, and to make up for things, the league takes back the $500 fine on the Nelsons! WHAT THE HELL?!!

Officials admit errors

On the eve of Game 2, The NBA has admitted making errors in Game 1 of the Mavericks-Jazz series.

Technical fouls assessed to coach Don Nelson and assistant coach Donnie Nelson have been rescinded, Don Nelson said, allowing the Nelsons to escape a $500 fine for each technical. Additionally, the league admitted that the Mavericks should have had 4.1 seconds for a final shot attempt instead of 3.3 seconds.

After Utah's John Stockton sank two free throws with 25.8 seconds remaining, the Mavericks contended that the clock was run to 25.0 by the time they inbounded the ball.

The second technical to Don Nelson - one that forced his ejection with 7:20 left - was most puzzling to him, even Tuesday. "I didn't think it was a fair technical under the circumstances," he said.

"All I can tell you is I'm going to continue to be who I am, sticking up for my team. But I'll be a little more careful because these referees are tired, just like we are."
