How is it expensive? Mike James has got an MLE deal. Francis signed for 2.4 million. Bonzi Wells is making 2.6 million. Mutumbo is likely to resign for the vet minimum. Hell, Scola is probably going to be the starting power forward for the Rockets and he's on a 3 year 10 million dollar deal. Their backup there will likely be Chuck Hayes and he hasn't resigned yet, but I doubt the Rockets will go high on him.
but more importantly, expensive compared to who? The Rockets are expected to have a salary of about 65 million next season. The Mavs are at 82 million.
