You know that they were all often semi-drunk in bars when they were newly-minted (or whatever the wizard/jedi equivelent of ABD), slurring to the local talent...."hey, doyawannasee a rweally kewl trick...?" And I gotta imagine being able to levitate/teleport/conjure things really can't hurt in the getting-into-someone's pants department.
