I'm crushed. I was at Turnpike Stadium one day right after the Rangers came to Arlington. I was trying desperately to get some players attention for an autograph. I was about 6-7 years old. The players ignored me and a couple of other kids yelling our our little hearts out. I had just about given up when none other than Teddy Ballgame himself walked over and spent about 15 minutes with us kids. He autographed everything we could get our hands on. The crowd grew a little when people realized what he was doing, but he took the time to sign what he could. I still have several of those items...a ball, my old little league hat, and a program. He took the time to walk over to a couple of excited kids and gave us all an experience we would never forget as long as we all live. He was truly one of the heroes for little boys of my era....and others too. I am deeply saddened by this.
Thanks for the article Rob.
