Ewing to the Wizards

Added: 17th August, 2002

After being tormented for years while with the Knicks by Michael Jordan and the Bulls would Patrick Ewing finally be joining forces with this nemisis?

Yes, the Washington Wizards have approached Ewing, but before you get any ideas into your head it is in relation to a possible assistant coaching role rather than a playing role.

Steve Wyche of the Washington Post reports that if Ewing - who is still deciding whether his future is still on the court after being released by the Magic - decides to take up the coaching role with the team his primary role would be to work with the team's big men.

"He still needs to figure out what he wants to do but there have been discussions about his joining the Wizards," a source, according to Whyche, said.

David Falk, Ewing's agent, said Ewing is looking at business opportunities outside of basketball. "He's exploring a variety of options," Falk said. "The first thing he has to decide is if he still want to play. He'll probably make a decision in three or four weeks on whether he wants to play or move on to something new."
