Given the borderline-absurd efforts teams are currently making to clear 2010 cap room, the guaranteed money given to top 10 picks, and the supposed weakness of this year's draft...what are the odds the Mavs might be able to buy their way up in this year's draft? It's supposedly well stocked with PGs--even at 14, where the Mavs project to end up, they should be able to draft a decent point--but I wonder if a team trying to clear cap room in 2010 would sell off a pick around 4-5-6 for straight cash, and/or us taking back a bad contract in exchange for Stack or something? I think it's time for the FO to start thinking creatively this way--every team is gunning for three players in 2010, let's take advantage of the potential for irrational behavior out there to pick up a few quality veterans who may be a bit overpaid, and score a few extra first round picks while we're at it.
