I don't know about that one. The objective of the Billups deal was the dump salary to be a player in the marketplace this past summer. Iverson allowed them to do that, McGrady did not.

When you talk about being "too cheap" you're getting into the realm of ownership. Let Alexander sets the budget, Morey has to work within it.

Plus we saw ourselves that the MLE wasn't enough to get Gortat and Diop cost the entire MLE last summer. If anyone knows how hard it is to get a decent back up center for less than full MLE money it's us.

When you can build the core of a playoff team (assuming they make the playoffs and McGrady doesn't contribute much) with late 1st rounders and 2nd rounders that's pretty damn good.
