alby, I hardly play anymore, but I would have to add a 7-iron to Doc's list of essential clubs, over a 3. Especially as a new guy starting out...low irons are hard as hell to hit. You'll be using your fairway wood instead of the 3 anyway. Plus, the 7-iron is just a sweet club in my opinion. It's the only club that I can pick up after a year, two-year, three-year-plus layoff and hit sweet and straight.
