I agree the Mavs didn't lose because of this, but it is a foul if you don't let the shooter complete his entire shooting motion. Watch how James plays defense, he rarely goes for the ball (unless of course he has position) but rather he always slaps at the hand on the follow through. This was obvious when they showed Kidd in slow motion hitting a 3 and James clearly slapped his hand. If you don't think this affects shots, than you never played basketball. Follow through is one of the first things you teach kids.
