They have been intentionally bad at it, which makes even less sense. Cuban prefers having the roster spot to pick up a veteran FA. That works for filling out the bottom half of your roster (although you're still old), but not for ever improving. Old guys aren't going to suddenly become stars. Don't need to look outside of Texas to see how much drafting well can help a team. Houston probably the best in the league, and the Spurs have certainly helped themselves in the draft as well. Which means the whole 'well, look where we picked' argument just goes right out the window. They looked for guys with really good upside...except when you are picking late, there is a reason nobody else picked those guys. Anderson seems to signal a change in thought...somebody a lot more polished. Mavs MUST improve their draft or they are going to be on a downhill slide for quite a while. You can't build a team through FA, especially if you haven't acquired any talent through the draft to trade with (again, look at Houston).

I just dont get it. The biggest problem is that we are forced into a certain situation just because of Rondo. Our Picks are basically gone till 2021.
Cuban will atleast not rebuild until Dirk retires so our Picks are gone for the next two years.
After that we just have to wait and see if we can build around Parsons and some big name FA (whoever that may be, because no one chooses us) or if we really break the building.
Even if we do that we will have a hard time keeping our picks because the Lottery can always mix things up and we would need to be atleast the 6th worst team, and 2021 pick is unprotected gone ...
I understand that Satnam was taken for marketing purposes but you just cant afford to do that when you have such an old team that is getting older and older.
That dude wouldnt even make a pro Team in a good league in Europe because hes that slow. I even doubt that he gets playing time in the D-League Team.
We didnt even consider going for Upside like the Harrison Twins for example who went undrafted or take a Flyer on some high profiled European Youngsters like the Spurs always do late in the 2nd. Those are kids that partly dominate Top European Leagues. This is Upside, they played against men not schoolboys.
This Indian Dude has no upside. Hes just big and slow and will forever stay like that.
