It's an interesting article. The Mavs managed to shoot themselves in the foot tonight. They were up three the first time they fouled. Presumably, they were looking at a worst-case scenario of giving up a three and then holding the ball for a final shot at the win, or overtime at the worst. Instead they fouled and gave up two points. Then GS had to foul, and they made only one FT attempt, leaving the door open for a loss as opposed to the overtime that they were seemingly guaranteed earlier.
Granted, if GS misses a FT or if we make all ours, we didn't invite our own demise. But as it happens, we did.
