You do not trade your franchise player for garbage. You are trading your two best players for neither one of the two best players for the other team. What is there to argue? Which team has done that before? Two top players for garbage, and young "promises."

Miles? Garbage. Pryzbilla? Fool's gold with his blocks. Aldridge? Fine, that's their 3rd best player. Rodriguez? Who? Draft rights to....... people who haven't played a single second of NBA basketball. Why will Miles retire? Are we gonna have to buy him out?

You shouldn't even have read this far. Just read the first paragraph. That's like trading Nash and Marion, let's say. That's like trading Wade and Shaq. Malone and Stockton. You simply do not do that for anything other than at least the best player on the other team or the 2nd at the very least.
